Free Keyboard Practice: The Home Row Method
Why the home row matters and a simple daily practice plan anyone can follow.
What is the home row?
The home row is the middle row of letter keys: A S D F on the left and J K L ; on the right. Your fingers rest there and return there after every reach. The small bumps on F and J let you find home without looking.
A simple daily plan
- Two minutes: home row warm-up drill.
- Five minutes: the next lesson in your level.
- Three minutes: repeat any lesson where you earned fewer than three stars.
Don't look down
Looking at the keyboard feels faster at first but slows you down later. Use the on-screen keyboard and hand guide instead — they show exactly which finger to use, so your eyes stay on the screen.
